Atlanta Pool Builders Tips on Beating the Heat in Your Swimming Pool- 3 Tips for Keeping Cool in the Pool

Though it may seem easy to beat the heat in a pool, and it is, that does not mean that you cannot add a little spice to the easy life.  Of course you want to keep a steady stream of sunscreen available, keep cool water handy for drinking, and spend plenty of time in the water, but you can shake things up a little bit too.  Try one or all of the following ideas from Atlanta pool builders for some super cool pool time either alone or with a group of friends.

  • Keep a cooler of ice water pool side.  Not bottled water for drinking, but simply a cooler filled with ice and water.  What is this good for?   Well good old fashioned water games of course.  Keep a bucket of oversized sponges and water guns nearby the cooler and watch the fun commence.   Fill up water guns and have an ice water gun war in the pool, or have a sponge toss.  If you are lounging alone, you can squirt yourself with ice water or squeeze an ice cold sponge over you if you are not ready for a dip.
  • Keep your drinks from watering down.  Freeze ice cubes from your favorite drink, whether it be iced tea or club soda, and add it to your drinks to keep them strong and cold.  If you have a separate freezer for this, that is even better.  Keep some ice trays filled with whatever drinks you serve and forget about watered down or warm drinks.
  • Fill a beach ball with a little bit of water, blow it up, and put it in the freezer.  Take it out every few minutes and shake it up to make sure the water does not freeze into a solid piece that could cause harm.  If you shake it up occasionally it will freeze into droplets, and you can play in the water getting a cool surprise each time you catch the ball.

These are just some ideas to add a little spice to a pool party or just any old day by the pool.  Another great tip is to keep sun screen in the cooler or refrigerator.  It loses potency when it gets hot, so keeping it cool will not only cool you down as you reapply, but it will ensure that you are getting the best sun protection possible.  Of course do not forget good old fashioned popsicles for a light, refreshing, cooling treat on the hottest of days.
